PUNT: The Irish and the NFL

Four elite GAA athletes. One impossible dream. A feature documentary tracking the brutal, high stakes journey of Irish kickers trying to break into the National Football League.

The NFL's International Player Pathway had opened a door for Irish athletes. Lee partnered with producer and director Darragh Bambrick, and together they pitched the concept to RTE. With funding secured, they directed the 50 minute feature that premiered on RTE One in March 2025, following the players from pitches in Ireland to the NFL Combine, a Pro Day in Austria, and a graduation shoot in Idaho.

Beat on the Street

An archive documentary revisiting RTE 2FM's Beat on the Street, the free open air roadshow that pulled tens of thousands into town squares across Ireland every summer through the late 80s and 90s. Told through the DJs, crew and fans who were there, it asks a simple question: why couldn't this happen now?

Time to Fly

An Irish wingsuit pilot and his paragliding partner build an ordinary life around an extraordinary risk. A love story about flight, fear and staying, shot in the air and in the quiet moments after landing.

Lee Murray

Documentary director, producer and cinematographer, based in Dublin. Self taught on the ground first, formalised later with a Master's in Documentary Filmmaking at the University of Sussex.

He develops and produces his own work through Valley Creative, and is producer and director on both features currently in development: writing the treatments, securing the access and contributors, building the budgets and putting the financing together.

He shoots his own work. That is a practical choice as much as an aesthetic one: smaller crews get closer, stay longer, and cost less, which means a subject stops performing sooner. His feature documentary PUNT: The Irish and the NFL, directed with Darragh Bambrick, premiered on RTE One in 2025. He has spent three seasons embedded with the Dublin International Film Festival, and is currently developing two feature documentaries.

In 2019 he travelled into North Korea and made a four part series about the trip, filmed entirely under state supervision. He is currently recutting it into a short documentary about how much of a place a visitor is actually allowed to see.
